We are seeking compassionate, patient, and dependable people to become Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This job offers challenging and rewarding work! We want DSPs that can develop a rapport with individuals with disabilities to nurture safe and supportive relationships. Positivism, teamwork, and collaboration are essential!
The DSP position would support and guide the individual, in a residential setting, in ways that most people would take for granted. You would assist with tasks that the individual cannot do for themselves and teach tasks that they can do for themselves. It is a great sense of accomplishment, for you and the person, when they learn to complete a new task! This position would also assist lower-functioning clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as showering, bathing, toileting, or feeding. For higher-functioning clients, you would teach daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
Job Type:
Full-time, Part-time, Swing and Graveyard shifts
Schedule:
Days (Mondays- Fridays and weekends)
Pay:
$15-16/hr. depending on experience as well as opportunities for advancement
Locations:
West Valley City, Salt Lake County
Experience/Qualifications:
- NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (We will train you)
- Must be 16 years old or plus.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Must have a clean driving record and qualifying insurance on personal vehicle.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Obtain all necessary certifications and trainings (time paid for training and certifications)
Responsibilities:
- Participate in community outings with clients.
- Assist with daily living skills (may include assisting with hygiene)
- Daily/weekly/monthly documentation (training will be provided)
- Assist with medications.
- Ensure cleanliness of client living and workspaces
- Provide transportation for various activities and appointments outside of the home/day program.
- Understand, respect, and always maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.

The House Manager Assistant will work under supervision of his house manager to assist the program with the overall operation, administrative duties, and supervision of staff at a residential home with an average of 2 to 4 clients. Requires shift work and on-call responsibilities. Required to always carry a cell phone to be the first responder to emergencies that may arise at assigned home. Must be self-directed. Learns and utilizes resources with guidance.

Description
General Description Of Duties: Responsible for the overall operation, administrative duties, and supervision of staff at a single or two residential homes with an average of 4 to 8 clients. Requires shift work and on-call responsibilities. Required to always carry a cell phone to be the first responder to emergencies that may arise at assigned home. Must be self-directed. Learns and utilizes resources with guidance. Implements policies, procedures, and training programs to develop or increase skill/productivity in vocational and/or daily living tasks of individual clients; participates in the ISP process; assists in the admission of new clients/associate employees to assigned residence. Ensures staff training requirements are current; ensures staff are scheduled for required training; maintains positive working relationships and professional level contacts with individuals or entities. Attends/conducts various meetings as required. Interviews new candidates and makes recommendations; conducts performance reviews, recommends disciplinary actions for assigned staff; performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Training: Must be at least 21 years of age. High School Diploma or GED required. One (1) years’ experience working directly with Disability adults in a residential environment required. Associate degree in related human services field preferred. Six Months to One year’s supervisory experience strongly preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, with internal and external customers of Comfort care Community Services. Have the ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers.
Other Requirements: Must be pass background/fingerprint investigation and pre-employment drug screening. Must possess a valid NM driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance. Must have own reliable transportation and agency insurable driving record. Must have computer experience. Knowledge of local resources available for coordination of programs and community outings is a plus. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. sporadically.
